Job Oriented Courses

Home Job Oriented Courses

Job-oriented education! What is this phrase? Education that trains a student for any particular job is called a job-oriented education. The policy makers have, many a times, framed different curricula, and they have also recommended the teaching of several trades between ninth standard and the eleventh standard for three years.

This kind of education has been christened vocational education and it imparts education in trades like carpentry, secretarial course, smithy and such others. This kind of reform came to be implemented in our schools. This was undertaken in view of the increase in the number of educated unemployed.

Mahatma Gandhi was the earlier seen to lay emphasis on skill-based education even at the primary stage. Similarly, we also had Jawaharlal Nehru who said that education must not only make learned citizens but producers. This has become more imperative in India today with far beyond control increase in the population and with the ever increasing multitudes of unemployed persons. It is also necessary for our students to keep abreast of the latest developments in science and technology.

For instance, today the world is after super computer and software technology. We need a large number of trained personnel to operate them and to attend to any malfunctions in them. The technology of computer both in software and in Hardware is being developed in Bangalore and various places. There are several Indian companies which are manufacturing computers. No doubt this is the age of computers.

A student who completes some of the elementary courses in computer operation like Basic, Cobol and Fortran will find himself at an advantage over his peers. Similarly, a student who has mastered communication engineering and satellite technology will be of great use of society.

There are thousands of avenues in science and technology open to our students in this fast-developing world.

Most of the schools have introduced the study of computer in the regular curricula. But unfortunately, other vocational courses have gone to the background. If we should realise the ideals of a free, classless and prosperous society. Education should be job- oriented.

Only this kind of education will save thousands of our young men from being unemployed and from being burdens to their parents and to the nation at large. Education, which orients a students to any better career is the need of the day.
